Video games have had a great year in 2023, despite a lot of uninteresting sequels. 

The greatest of them served as a timely reminder of the surprising and challenging nature of the medium. Hardware was useful. The previous 12 months have seen the release of Microsoft's Xbox One X, which offers us an extremely powerful picture of high-definition gaming in the future, and Nintendo's Switch, a portable system that blurs the lines between couchbound and mobile play. However, the concepts were what mattered most. These eight items range from the lighthearted joys of an ideal Nintendo platformer to the somber reality of emigration and conflict.

Super Mario 3D World is a 2013 platform game developed and published by Nintendo for the Wii U. It is the sixth original 3D platform game in the Super Mario series and the sequel to Super Mario 3D Land for the Nintendo 3DS.

Insomniac Games created the action-adventure game Marvel's Spider-Man[b], which was released by Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2018. It recounts a unique story that draws on other media adaptations as well as the long-running mythology of comic books, and it is based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. The superhuman criminal lord Mister Negative plans an attempt to take over in the primary narrative.
